Dear Friends:
Thank God and you for continuing to support me as I serve as your State Senator for District 19. I bless God and you for electing me as the first Black American to serve as State Senator in Central Florida.
My service as Senator has emerged as a political ministry for a district that epitomizes America. It is comprised of Anglo-, African-, Hispanic-, Haitian-, and Carribian-Americans. Most of the residents are essential in the workforce of Orange and Osceola counties being the number one tourist destination in the world. Because of the diversity of our district,
I have sponsored and assisted the passage of over one hundred bills that covered a variety of issues affecting our district.
As a leader who serves, I try to ameliorate these issues by conducting important seminars, workshops, summits, town hall meetings and job fairs. I also will host, for the eighth consecutive year, a school supply giveaway, underwear and socks giveaway for students, a labor day family picnic, a Christmas toy and a Three Kings toy giveaway.
I am humbled to share with you that over the past eight years my colleagues and I have passed budgets that provided over 5 million dollars to the professional opportunities program for students (POPS) paying them $7 an hour and providing them with a year long Mentorship program.
